My love for historical objects has influenced my career as a conservator restorer and metalsmith from working as a freelance contractor at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London; more specifically, conserving objects for the Europe Collection 1600-1800 to working in contemporary art foundries within the South-West of England, these varied experiences have inspired me to develop a unique style within my own personal metalworking venture.
Art has been my inspiration from the beginning . I graduated with a BA(hons) in Contemporary Crafts from University College Falmouth followed by a Post-Graduate Diploma (Distinction) in Conservation and Restoration of Metal Work at the prestigious West Dean College, Chichester.
I am now a self-employed Metalsmith with a specialism in Conservation & Restoration which give sme the felxibility to be freelance conservator on a contractual basis, as well as working towards my certification through the institute of conservation (ICON). However i am a bespoke maker of sculptural metalwork, functional forms and jewellery.
Recently I have decided to pursue more of a focus on being a contemporary artist/maker come and visit during farOpen Arts trail to see what I am up to ton an annual basis. My Art is inspired by macro and micro textures and sights, I raise vessels and forms to create one-off bespoke miniature landscapes.
I am currently making on a commission basis. My inspirations for making has been to develop my clients ideas into physical pieces that can be treasured for a lifetime. This is giving me an alternative foundation to broaden my horizons as a designer maker.
